Beginning her professional career in full service quantitative consumer market research, Ms. Schlau is a well-known and respected consultant.  Prior to founding LSC, Lauren was a manager at the Los Angeles office of hospitality consulting firm PKF Inc., and research director at the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.  As well, she has been employed by or consulted to the City and County of Los Angeles, and State of California.She has been very involved in local community/economic development, having been appointed by several Los Angeles elected officials to local advisory committees including a new business improvement district (BID), a community plan development committee and a design board to review the development of a public/private community retail center.Various groups, including the Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, CalTravel Southern California Visitor Industry Outlook Conference, and Oregon Restaurant Association, as well as visitor bureaus and chambers of commerce throughout the west have featured Lauren as a speaker on travel, hospitality and research.

Ms. Schlau earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Southern California, and Bachelor of Science in communications from Northwestern University, and completed post-graduate certificate programs in Management Development for Entrepreneurs (MDE – 2002) from the recognized UCLA Anderson School of Management and in Total Quality Management (TQM – 1998), focusing on organizational improvement and leadership, from UCLA Extension.  For five years she instructed Hospitality Marketing and Foodservice Marketing at UCLA Extension.
